Last weekend Disney announced at their Bi-annual Fan Event, D23, that Frontierland at Walt Disney World is getting a new expansion, and it’s bringing Cars into the wild west.

In order for them to bring these Cars dreams to life, they will be reimagining the River of America and Tom Sawyer’s Island area. Fret not, construction will not get started until 2025 so you have some time to visit the area as is. Want to visit and have us take care of the stress and magical details? Fill this out.

What we know so far is that there will be two attractions, one being a family friendly attraction and the second being a rally-race through the mountains where you will be dodging geysers and splashing through mudholes.

I personally am very excited for these changes! Aas beautiful as Rivers of America are, they are often underutilized. Most guests skip heading over to Tom Sawyer’s Island and I feel like this will be more of a draw for guests.

This wasn’t the only Walt Disney World news they gave us! Expect updates on a new Villians Land, Monsters Inc Land, a reimagined land in Animal Kingdom called the Tropical Americas, and two new lounge spaces opening in 2025. Stay tuned for more deets!
