What the heck is Rider Switch?
Rider Switch is a handy feature that allows members of your party enjoy an attraction that another member of your party is unable to (height requirement, health issue, etc.) or if someone does not want to.
How does Rider Switch Work?
One adult or a supervising person (over 14) in your party waits with your non-rider while the rest of your group is having a grand time on the attraction. Once the first party is done taking their turn on the attraction, they switch with the second group without waiting in the regular line again. So convenient!
Great, now how do we utilize Rider Switch?
- Double check with the Cast Member in front of the queue is Rider Switch is being offered.
- Your whole party (even those not participating in the attraction) must all ask the greeting Cast Member for a Rider Switch Pass. The Cast Member will divide the group into two parties.
- Group 2 (the supervising person & a max of 3 riders) will have their tickets scanned and will wait outside the attraction while Party 1 waits in line either by Stand-by or Lightening Lane to experience the attraction.
- Once Party 1 gets back, Party 2 will walk to the appropriate attraction entrance (lightening lane, attraction exit) to have their park ticket re-scanned to use their Rider Switch pass. Rider 2 will hop into the appropriate line (lightening lane or exit) without having to wait in the stand-by line.
Can someone that was in Party 1 go on the attraction again with Party 2?
Sure can! You get up to 3 guests in Party 2 and it doesn’t matter if they already enjoyed the attraction with Party 1. This way the child would be able to ride with both parents or supervising guest.

Autopia, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Indiana Jones Adventure, Matterhorn Bobsleds, Millenium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Star Tours, Star Wars: Rise of The Resistance.
What Attractions Offer Rider Switch at Disney California Adventure?
Goofy’s Sky School, Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission BREAKOUT!, Grizzly River Run, Incredicoaster, Jumpin’ Jellyfish, Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree, Radiator Springs Racers, Silly Symphony Swings, Soarin’ Around the World.
