Not to be dramatic but, packing for the parks is an art form. Actually, that’s not true, but I do recommend planning ahead of time and trying to be intentional about what you pack.
First thing to consider is Souther California winter weather.
Average Anaheim Weather:
Month | High | Low |
November | 75 | 52 |
December | 68 | 47 |
January | 69 | 48 |
February | 70 | 48 |
These are the average weather temperatures in Anaheim for the winter months. I definitely suggest keeping a close eye on the forecast for your trip because I find it to be kind of unpredictable. Heat waves and rainstorms do happen and it is best to pay attention to the forecast. Even with that being said, one thing that is a must regardless of the expected forecast, is layers are very important. It is often quite cold in the mornings and nighttime even if there is an unexpected heat wave during the day.
Okay now back to, my top 10 suggestions for packing in the winter months.
1. Comfortable Shoes
It is a non-negotiable. We are talking about a day where you are walking up to 25k steps in a day. Here are a few of my favorite options.
My personal favorites are the Skechers Flex Trainers, Skechers Foamies, and Addidas Cloud Foam. I don’t personally wear Crocs but I know people swear by them. I have them linked below in clockwise order.

2. Layers
Layer up! It’ll be pretty chilly in the mornings and evenings. Make sure you bring something easy to take on and off for when the sun comes out.

3. Hat
Listen, I love Minnie Mouse Ears, but they start to bug my head after awhile so I always like to pack hats. A beanie for when it’s cold & I love a ball cap for when it’s raining or if I run out of time to do my hair.

4. Rain Jacket & Ponchos
It gets chilly and it does in fact rain in Southern California in winter and even in the spring months so be prepared. I have linked some options below, but feel free to head to your local DollarTree and pick up a bunch of them so you can throw them away.

5. Fuel Rod/Portable Charger
Disney makes it so we need to be on our phone a lot. Between checking wait times, booking lightening lane, mobile ordering our meals, and taking pictures your phone battery will drain pretty quickly. I suggest bringing a Fuel Rod or a Wireless charger.
6. Backpack/ FannyPack
You are going to need something to carry all this stuff I am suggesting you bring. There are so many options to choose from. I do love Disney’s Loungefly backpacks, but sometimes I need more room. I have linked multiple options below.
7. Heat Pack
As I already told you, it gets chilly so I love bringing these HotHands heat packs. Also if you are over 30, warm up that lower back.. I know it’s hurting.
8. Water Bottle
Bring a refillable water bottle to the parks so you aren’t buying $6 Dasani water through out the day. Disneyland has multiple refillable water stations throughout the park for you to refill your bottle. Forget your water bottle? You can ask for free cups of water at restaurants.
9. Disney First Aid Kit
I like to create a Disney First Aid Kit that include Antibacterial Wipes, Liquid IV, Tylenol, and some Kleenex. All of these things are always good to have on hand.

10. Ears
So I guess this isn’t winter specific, but they still deserve to be on the list. They really make a Disney outfit.
